Giles is taking the potential slayers on a vision quest, much like the one Buffy went on years ago. However, Giles doesn't really want to leave Buffy and the rest of the group alone right now, plus he doesn't want to be stuck with so many teenage girls at once. As Giles leaves, Buffy heads downstairs to talk to Spike who has chained himself to the wall, in order to prevent himself from attacking anyone in case the First tries to brainwash him again. Suddenly his chip fires off unexpectedly and he writhes in pain while screaming painfully.

Buffy joins Willow in the kitchen, who's preparing tea for Kennedy, who's staying home instead of going on the vision quest because she's sick. Buffy asks Willow about the chip who doesn't know much about it. Buffy thinks the chip is starting to malfunction. Willow brings the cup of tea up to Kennedy, only to find her entirely not sick and fully dressed to go out. She tells Willow that she has own mission to take care of, and she needs Willow to help her. Willow finds herself at the Bronze with Kennedy on their "supposed" mission. Willow agrees to stay for one drink, even though she's kind of miffed. Kennedy then starts asking her how long she's been gay and other questions that Willow finds herself slightly shocked by. Kennedy gives her a few tips on how to notice if another woman is gay and Willow finally starts to open up. Back at home, Spike's chip is still firing off every now and again and Buffy says she'll do some research on it. She calls a supposed flower shop in an attempt to reach Riley and leaves a message for him. Spike begins screaming in pain again as the pain in his head increases.

Back at the Bronze, Kennedy tells Willow that she knew she was gay at 5 years old. Kennedy tells her why she likes her, making Willow blush and smile, half because she's awkward and the other half because she's flattered. They finally return home, a bit of an air of awkwardness about them, until Kennedy steps up to Willow and kisses her intimately until Willow suddenly turns into Warren, though she doesn't realize it. Kennedy backs away quickly and Willow glances in the mirror, seeing Warren's face looking right back at her. They rush downstairs, shocking everyone. Buffy walks in and punches Willow right in the face, seeing only Warren in front of her. Willow finally gets through that she's actually herself and not Warren. Willow heads off to figure out how to get rid of Warren's visage on herself. Kennedy chases her out the door, trying to get Willow to lighten her mood. Kennedy continually pushes at her, wanting to help out, Willow resists, but eventually lets Kennedy tag along with her. Meanwhile, Spike and Buffy, in attempt to find something out about his chip, return to the underground tunnels of the now defunct initiative. Back at the Summers' residence, Xander takes a phone call revealing that Giles was attacked in England. Unsure of what to think, everyone realizes that no one has touched Giles and he quite possibly could be the First Evil. They set off to find Giles in desert, who has been left alone with all the potential Slayers.

Willow and Kennedy find the UC Sunnydale wiccan coven actually working a spell on the school campus, which shocks her because they used to not be focused on the magic. Willow is surprised to see Amy in the circle who apologizes for hurting Willow in the past and how she's trying to heal herself now. Amy tries to restore Willow's true persona but when it doesn't work, Willow yells at her and slaps her abruptly, shocking even herself. Realizing that she becoming Warren, she rushes off, even though Kennedy tries to stop her. Kennedy goes back to talk to Amy who accidentally lets slip that she knows that Kennedy is a potential Slayer even though Kennedy hadn't told her. Meanwhile, in the old Initiative caves, Buffy and Spike come across many dead bodies from the last battle that took place in the tunnels. They're suddenly confronted by a leftover demon. Buffy fights him because Spike's chip has fired off again and he's useless in the fighting department. Buffy manages to kill the demon by shoving a pole through its neck. Suddenly the lights in the Initiative come on and a general tells her that Riley Finn has informed them to help her out. They take a look at the chip and find out it is degrading. Buffy has the choice to either have the chip repaired or have it removed.

Meanwhile, Willow finds herself buying a gun. Out in the desert, Xander, Anya, Dawn and Andrew jump Giles, who turns out to be very much physically intact. Back at UC Sunnydale, Kennedy realizes that Amy did this to Willow. Amy, bitter that Willow always had so much power and everyone always loved her, cast a spell on her for a little fun by taking her a peg or two. Amy suddenly sends Kennedy directly to Buffy's backyard, only to find Willow charging in holding the gun, mimicking Warren's exact movements and words when he shot Buffy and Tara. Confused as to where the line between Willow and Warren lies, Willow says she was tricked into forgetting about Tara for one moment. Willow tries to fight back against the evil inside of her that's a part of Warren. She suddenly breaks down, realizing she let Tara go and finally realizing that Tara is actually dead. She cries out to Tara, wanting her to come back. Kennedy approaches her and kisses her again, telling her she's bringing her back to life. Warren's visage finally disappears and she's completely and utterly Willow again. Willow and Kennedy head back inside, still unsure of what to think.

Giles: "I don't think they appreciate the gravity of what we're undertaking. How frightening and difficult it is. Apparently somebody told them that the visionquest consists of me taking them into the desert and doing the hokey pokey until a "spooky rasta mama Slayer" appears and talks to them in riddles."
Buffy: "That's not exactly how I put it, I..."

Buffy: "Remember when things used to be nice and boring?"
Willow: "No."

Spike: "It's like a bloody war zone up there. And not in the fun way."

Willow/Warren: "I'm Willow."
Xander: "Are you sure?"
Willow/Warren: "There are other stories from kindergarten. Non yellow crayon stories in which you don't come out in such a good light. An incident involving Aquaman underoos, for example. You want me to start talking?"
Xander: "Hey, Willow!"

Xander: "Touch him!"
Dawn: "I feel him! I feel him!"
Xander: "Me too."
Andrew: "Me too!"
Giles: "Yes. Good. We all feel each other. Including those of us who don't really know each other well enough to take such liberties. I assume there's a perfectly reasonable and not-at-all insane explanation coming, yes?"
Anya: "We thought you might be non-corporeal evil."

Soldier: "We're to provide you anything you need to help assface here. Those were his exact words, ma'am."
