The Magic Box is having a Halloween bonanza sale and the place is absolutely packed. Anya is stocking shelves while Willow is getting pissed off at customers dressed up in stereotypical witch garb. While Willow isn't looking, Dawn pockets a talisman from a table. While searching for Mandrake root in the basement, Buffy runs into Spike who helps her find the product. Meanwhile, a creepy old man returns home from the store and goes into his creepy old house, humming to himself mindlessly. He promises to give the kids something special this year and pulls out a sharp kitchen knife from one of his drawers. Thankfully, the shop day from hell ends and everyone is unbelievably exhausted. As Xander watches Anya closing the cash, he comes to the realization that he wants to finally tell everyone that they're getting married. Much to Anya's surprise, Xander announces it to everyone to mixed reactions, some enthused, others shocked and some just totally flabbergasted. Everyone celebrates later on at the Summer's home and Willow uses her magic to decorate the place though neither Giles or Tara are impressed with her excessive use of magic. Tara talks to her about it later but Willow tries to justify her use of magic by saying that it makes others happy. They start to argue, but Dawn walks in on them, interrupting them.
Dawn tells Buffy that she's going over to Janice's house for a sleepover, which Buffy doesn't seem too eager about. She finally does consent and Dawn DOESN'T head straight over to Janice's. Instead she meets up with her in a back alley somewhere. They head over to a park where they meet up with others, two guys in particular, Justin and Zack, and Dawn takes an instant liking to Justin. The four of them head off to egg houses and let the air out of tires. Zack pulls Justin aside, wondering if Justin is up for going "all the way" with Dawn tonight. Back at Buffy's house, Giles tries talking to Xander about houses, and wives, and successfully manages to scare him.
Back outside, the foursome comes up to the old man's house, his name is Kalenbach and he's supposedly crazy. Dawn then accepts the challenge of going up the steps and smashing the pumpkin. She's just about to do it when the door opens and the old man comes out and terrifies her. And yet, he invites them all, saying he's got something special for them. Inside they find the place crawling with toys, apparently old man Kalenbach used to design them. Justin offers to help Kalenbach out in the kitchen but the girls want to get out there immediately. In the kitchen, the tables suddenly turn and Justin turns out to be a vampire who quickly drains the old man of his blood. Justin races out of the kitchen, claiming he stole the old man's wallet and they run out of the house quickly.
Back at the Summer's home, Xander is becoming even more terrified as Anya yammers on about babies and money and houses and eternity. Buffy and Xander go outside because Xander needs some air away from the whole marriage deal. Meanwhile, Justin and Dawn are starting to get comfortable with each other while Zack is off stealing a car. Buffy heads out on patrol and finds herself disheartened by the couples everywhere. She stumbles onto a murder scene where the woman was killed and she has bite marks on her neck. Back at home, Giles receives a call from Janice's mom requesting to speak to Janice, which is when they both realize that they've been duped. Meanwhile, the foursome drive up to the woods and Janice and Zack run off, leaving Dawn and Justin alone in the car. As the car radio plays quietly, Dawn and Justin kiss softly.
Willow and Tara head to the Bronze to find Dawn. Upstairs on the balcony, Willow tries to use a spell to find Dawn but Tara stops her. Willow becomes immediately insulted when Tara tells her that she's using way too much magic. Tara storms off, leaving Willow behind. Meanwhile Dawn and Justin are still making out in the car when suddenly she discovers that she's making out with a vampire. Buffy finds Spike in his crypt, who informs her that Giles told him that Dawn seems to be missing and she's not at Janice's place. Giles is scanning the cemetery for Dawn when he comes upon the woods where Janice is being fed off by Zack. Giles interrupts them and starts fighting with Zack and manages to impale him on a tree branch. Dawn, realizing what Justin is, freaks out and rushes out of the car. He catches up to her, calling her special and he's about to bite her when Giles suddenly walks in on them. Then suddenly, they're surrounded by vampires everywhere. Thankfully, Buffy and Spike show up and the battle commences. Spike, Giles and Buffy manage to stake every single one of the vampires except for Justin who has managed to track Dawn down. She tries to run away from him but he tackles her to the ground. As he leans in to bite her, she shoves a stake through his heart.
Later at home, everyone leaves and Tara and Willow turn in to bed. Buffy leaves Giles to talk to Dawn about her behaviour, despite his wishes. Upstairs, Tara doesn't want to talk about their fight so willow casts a spell on her, making her forget the entire incident and they go to bed happy.

Xander: "I'm gonna marry that girl."
Buffy: "What? She's fifteen and my sister, so don't even..." bemerkt, dass er Anya meint- "oh!"
Buffy: "Did you know about this?"
Giles: "No. Unless I blocked it from my memory, much as I will Xander's vigorous use of his tongue."
Buffy: Is that why you're always cleaning your glasses? So you don't have to see what we're doing?"
Giles: "Tell no one."
Buffy: "How many other things have changed since I've been gone?"
Dawn: "I got a tattoo."
Buffy: "What???"
Willow: " Which is why we told her 'no!' "
Dawn: "Just a little one..?"
Buffy: "Over my dead body.. The kind that doesn't come back."
Justin: "And so begins her life of crime."
Dawn: "You're a little late. I steal all the time."
Justin: Really?"
Dawn: "Totally. I haven't paid for lipstick since.. forever."
Justin: "Oh, be still my heart. Cute and bad."
Vamp: "Uh.. excuse me? Can we fight now?"
Buffy: "Hey- didn't anyone come here to just make out?" Ein Pärchen hebt seine Hände, Buffy spricht zu ihnen "Ow, that's sweet. You run." ..dann zu den Vamps: "You scream."
Dawn: "This the part where you tell me you're not angry, just disappointed?"
Giles: "Pretty much.. except for the bit about not being angry."
