The gang resolves to bring the Slayer back from the dead — and succeeds, despite being hindered by a band of biker demons. Meanwhile, a grieving Giles (unaware of the Scoobies' plan to resurrect Buffy) leaves Sunnydale.

The Buffy bot is attacked and captured by the demon bikers. Meanwhile Willow, Xander, Tara and Anya split up in the woods and agree to meet up at the Magic Box. In her coffin, a frantic Buffy begins to rip the wood apart. Sunnydale is still under attack and Spike takes Dawn out of the house in an attempt to better protect her.
Back in the woods -- a hand shoots out of Buffy's grave and she pulls herself up out of the dirt and stares at her tombstone in shock. She walks around town where everything is on fire and destroyed. Anya and Tara make it to the Magic Box ahead of Willow and Xander so Tara sends out a seeker spell to help them find their way back to the shop. A confused and disoriented Buffy continues to walk around Sunnydale while Spike and Dawn grab a bike from a demon and motor around on it. Willow and Xander return to the Magic Box where they realize they've failed to bring back Buffy and they'll have to fight the Hellions themselves, despite Anya's misgivings. The Hellions have decided to live in Sunnydale and they're celebrating the occasion by destroying the Buffybot. The real Buffy looks on and then runs away as she's spotted by the demons. She runs into a back alley where she turns up right in front of the gang. At first they think it's the Buffybot except Willow who knows immediately. Buffy runs from them and hides in a corner, cowering away from them. Xander then realizes they were stupid to ressurrect Buffy insider her coffin where she had to dig herself out. They try talking to her but she still won't say a word. The Hellions discover them and start to attack the Scooby Gang but Buffy steps in and destroys them all.
Spike and Dawn discover the broken Buffybot who tells them that she saw herself and Dawn begins to realize that her real sister may be alive and she runs off. After the fight with the Hellions, Buffy runs off to the tower that Glory's minions had created and heads up to the top where her memory of the events a month and a half ago come back to her. Dawn finds her sister at the top of the tower and smiles in recognition but she's afraid the Buffy will jump off the tower. The unstable tower is swaying as if it's about to collapse. Buffy then asks if this is hell, to which a shocked Dawn replies no and that she can't live without her. The tower begins to fold in on itself and Buffy grabs her sister and gets to the ground just as the whole tower collapses. On the ground, Dawn hugs her sister emotionally while Buffy remains expressionless.

Giles: "I'm fine. I just need to die for a minute."
Willow: "Try to drive him toward the Van Elton crypt."
Tara: "Is that the one with the cute little gargoyle?"
Spike: "Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cup of tea, cup of tea, almost got shagged, cup of tea?"
Willow: "Nobody's changing their minds, period."
Xander: "Excuse me? Who made you the boss of the group?"
Anya: "You did."
Tara: "You said Willow should be boss."
Anya: "And then you said 'let's vote', and it was unanimous."
Tara: "And then you made her this little plaque that said 'Boss of Us' and you put little sparkles on it.."
Xander: "Valid points all."
Xander: "Scenario: We raise Buffy from the grave. She tries to eat our brains. Do we A) congratulate ourselves on a job well done..?"
Willow: "Xander, this isn't zombies!"
Anya: "Zombies don't eat brains anyway, unless instructed to by their zombie masters. Lot of people get that wrong."
Willow: "Oh, you got butterflies, baby?"
Tara: "More like bats."
Anya: "You want to look at the money? I find it always calms me."
Xander: "I don't see you winning too many beauty contests, unless the Miss "My face fell off" pageant gets going."
Dawn: "The tower was built by crazy people and I don't think it's holding up very well!"
